BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

This 12 month placement is located in Ethiopia and starts between Jan-Mar (flexible)

The volunteer's role

The purpose of this placement is to create and strengthen partnerships among relevant stakeholders who contribute (or could be contributing) to implementing the regional government health sector plans. The RHB wishes to harmonize activities of health sector stakeholders in the region in order to maximise the use of resources more efficiently. Additionally, the Advisor will help build the capacity of the RHB team in resource mobilisation techniques including proposal development and fundraising strategizing.

We are trying to match the perfect volunteer to the perfect experience so our start dates can be flexible. It would just depend on the partner organization’s needs.

The volunteer will:

- Review and revise existing partnership mapping system and partnership development frameworks

- Assist in setting up database for partners working in BSG Health Sector

- Assist in identifying potential partners within BSG and outside the regin and develop a plan to establish a partnership forum inclusive of all relevant stakeholders

- Build professional capabilities of the teamn M & E, partnership development, communication, event organizations, needs assessments, proposal development, etc

- Assist the various departments in developing resource mobilization plans and systematically developing & compiling proposals

Essential Academic Qualifications

- Degree in public health or a related field

Essential Professional Background/Competencies

- Experience in fundraising, partnership development, working with different actors to assess needs, create consensus for collective action
- Project Management and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skill and interpersonal skills to be able interact well with diverse members of the health stakeholder community (NGOs, CBOs, private sector, as well as government officials and health professionals)
