There are many risks associated with not-for-profits and charities carrying out activities abroad. One often overlooked but very significant risk is the financial risk associated with market changes and related currency exchange rate fluctuations. This presentation will discuss strategies that not-for-profit and charitable organizations can implement to reduce the costs associated with international development work. This discussion will include the following topics, among others:

– How to reduce market risks;
– How to negotiate better rates;
– How to stay ahead of compliance regulations for money transfer;
– How to work with informal banking systems; and
– What financial products are available in the money transfer realm.
