Global Affairs Canada’s 2017 Call for Preliminary Proposals to its Development Impact Window, for Canadian Small and Medium-sized Organizations (SMOs) was announced on Friday November 24, 2017. This call is part of the $100M SMO Fund that Minister Bibeau announced on May 9, 2017, and is the first and largest component of the fund. There will also be an Innovation Fund, and a Capacity Building component, with details to be announced at a later date.
This call for preliminary proposals is part of Global Affairs Canada’s five-year pilot initiative targeted at Canadian SMOs. The pilot initiative seeks to engage Canadian SMOs in international assistance efforts in areas consistent with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy. This call is, in part, a result of a multi-year advocacy campaign by the Inter-Council Network of Provincial and Regional Councils (ICN) to ensure the Government of Canada values the strength and diversity of SMOs rooted in communities across Canada, and provides predictable opportunities for Canadian SMOs to apply for funding.
Before beginning an application, be sure to read the instructions in How to apply for funding through a call for preliminary proposals. Please note that GAC anticipates launching additional calls for preliminary proposals under the Development Impact Window during the next three years.
The deadline for submitting a preliminary proposal for this call is January 10, 2018 before 12 p.m. (noon) Eastern Standard Time.
We will share any additional information regarding this call or other aspects of the SMO Fund, as soon as they come available. Please watch for additional information and opportunities to learn more.
