Innovating for Impact! Applying Creativity & Innovation Tools Workshop

Social mission organizations have widely divergent areas of focus, but often face similar challenges when it comes to innovation and creativity.  How can you help your organization get to the next level and provide even more impact to the people and communities you serve, all while working in an environment that is constrained by time, resources and competition?

OCIC and Alex Gill hosted a half-day workshop, as part of International Development Week 2018.

Alex Gill (@alexgill) is the co-founder and Director of Ryerson University’s SocialVentures Incubator (www.ryerson.ca/svz) and the founder of Mendicant Group (www.mendicant.ca), a social issues consultancy based in Toronto.  Alex has worked with social innovators and young entrepreneurs in Canada and in 15 other countries and regularly speaks about innovation and applied creativity.

In this dynamic and interactive session, participants looked at a range of areas, including:

  • How to identify the opportunities for innovation and increased impact in your organization?
  • What is the biggest challenge to productivity that ALL organizations face – and how can you counter it?
  • How can you use guerrilla research techniques to quickly support a case for change?
  • How can you apply the innovation secrets of the for-profit world to produce higher impact in international development?

Participants also worked on real challenges their organizations are facing and received a range of tools they can take back to their organizations.

When: Thursday, February 8, 2018 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST

Where: Artscape Youngplace, 180 Shaw Street Toronto, ON M6J 2W5
