Making Connections: Insights on Engaging the Public in Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Launch Event

Event Details

Horizons of Friendship and OCIC invite you to a special online launch of the “Making Connections: Insights on Engaging the Public in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health” publication, a resource that will be of exceptional interest to public engagement practitioners and community outreach specialists in international development and civil society.

This National Gender Equality Week (September 20-26, 2020), learn about the large-scale Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Project in the predominantly Indigenous Maya K’iche’ province of Totonicapán, Guatemala and its immersive public engagement initiatives.

Join us at the launch to draw insights from Horizons of Friendship’s experience engaging with numerous communities in Canada, including health practitioners, youth, and Indigenous Peoples. Listen to the experience of participants involved in the Project’s public engagement efforts, such as enriching knowledge exchanges in Totonicapán with Horizons’ local partners. Be inspired and contribute to a conversation on ways to improve public engagement on global issues.

Following the main programming (12:30 – 1:30), a “virtual café” (1:30 – 2:00) will be open to attendants who wish to carry on the dialogue in a more casual setting. This event is FREE, with limited spots available. For more information, please contact Raúl Scorza at rscorza@horizons.ca

The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Project is funded by the Government of Canada.
