The role of this volunteer
Cuso International is looking for someone who is passionate about the rights of women, girls, and LGBTIQ people!

The general purpose of the position is to provide technical assistance to DEMUS in the implementation of the communication campaigns it has to promote a life free of violence, without discrimination and with sexual autonomy for women and people from the LGTBIQ community.

Demus is a feminist organization that is committed to promoting transformations in the hegemonic culture that reproduces machismo, heteronormativity, classism, racism, etc. As well as, make visible the violation of the sexual and reproductive rights of women and LGTBIQ+ people, and demand justice.

The campaigns we have, contribute to the recognition and full exercise of sexual and reproductive rights, translated into platforms such as Somos2074, Caso Manta, #DecidirSinCulpa, #IgualdadDeGéneroYA, Defenders are not alone, Rainbow Justice, among others. With your knowledge and experience you will be able to support causes to advance the full exercise of rights for women.

If you are interested in generating impact and contributing to the rights of women, girls and adolescents towards gender equality, this could be a position for you.

During your volunteering, you will have the following objectives:
Monitoring of news and/or situation to feed our campaigns and institutional positioning
Support in the proposal and preparation of audiovisual material according to the requirements of the campaigns and/or institutional positioning
Support in the monitoring and review of the communication products of the campaigns according to milestones and/or key dates.
Support in monitoring the CM’s of campaigns and management of institutional social networks.
Support in verifying data provided by the reports of the CM’S and/or communication contracts of the campaigns, for a permanent analysis, monitoring and evaluation
Develop success case files on Demus campaigns
Contribute to the articulation with the CUSO and GAC communications team to improve the scope and dissemination of Demus activities
Support DEMUS and Cuso International with the campaign implementation matrix

Required academic qualifications:
Bachelor of Communication, Journalism, Sociopolitical Marketing
Work experience and/or studies related to feminism, gender and human rights
Basic-intermediate handling of audiovisual tools (A. Illustrator, A. Photoshop, A. Premiere)

Essential professional experience:
Development or implementation of communication, marketing and/or branding strategies
Knowledge and commitment to gender equality
Good writing, editing reports and publications
High organizational level of assigned activities.
Ability to work in a team and support various campaigns simultaneously.

Modest monthly living allowance (varies depending on country)

On the ground support through our Cuso International country program office
Access to Employee Assistance Program while in placement and upon return
Bonus: Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months

Fundraising
We ask each volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fundraise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support our work.
