Brief Description:

The Project Manager will lead the local partners through all phases of the project cycle in the third and fourth year. The PM will provide excellent technical guidance and leadership in program management, financial management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and partner relationships related to the project. Annual travel to project sites in Afar and Harar, Ethiopia may be a possibility post Covid-19.

Part-time: 8 hours per week
Contract: January 31st 2022- December 31st, 2023
Salary range: $65,000-$68,000 per annum (prorated at 20%) $31.25- $32.69 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide financial management, guidance, and technical oversight for all aspects of the project:
-overseeing all aspects of the project cycle
-complete quarterly financial reports, annual reports, and semi-annual reports
-ensure that implementation is in line with Global Affairs Canada standards and industry best practices
-ensuring effective implementation of project strategies, adjusting course as needed based on interim performance, to achieve life-of-project performance targets
-lead discussions with local implementation partners in-person or via phone/skype/zoom as part of project development initiatives, strategizing, planning, and budgeting

Monitoring & evaluation:
-ensure a fully functional M&E system is followed for the project
-analyze and evaluate project performance data
-proactively identify issues and concerns and use participatory processes to overcome implementation obstacles.

Financial management:
-ensure timely and appropriate project expenditures in line with work plans and budgets and efficient use and stewardship of project material sources
-understand GAC’s financial requirements to provide detailed oversight to budget planning, expenditures and financial reporting
-ensuring review and timely submission of regular financial reports to Global Affairs Canada

Must haves:
-experience in GAC reporting
-experience in financial management
-experience with Monitoring & Evaluation
-experience managing international development projects

Nice to haves:
-excellent communicator
-ability to write detailed reports
-interest in international development
-ability to work well under pressure and varying deadlines

Reporting relationship:
The Project Manager will report to the Executive Director
